Guipuzcoa

La Concha Beach
Located along La Concha Bay in the city of Donostia-San Sebastian. It is 1.35 km long and 40 m wide. It is a sandy beach where the incoming tides often swallow up the sun bathing area for beachgoers. It is considered to be an urban beach and enjoyed by a great many people.
There is good pedestrian access as well as excellent public transport in addition to underground parking.

El Kursaal
It is excellently located at the mouth of the Urumea River and faces the Bay of Biscay. The building’s architect, the celebrated Rafael Money, designed two translucent glass cubes to serve as “two rocks washed ashore”. The building is the fruit of an ambitious project which the city of Donostia - San Sebastian and the province of GIpuzkoa financed in order to provide modern and innovative infrastructure for conventions and cultural events to be held.

Jazzaldia
Practically anybody who was anybody in today’s jazz over the last few years has performed at the Donostiako Jazzaldia Jazz Festival. Over 1,400 musicians have played in Donostia- San Sebastian, many of them are repeats, all of whom represent the main figures of jazz over the last few decades. Therefore, the history of the Donostia-San Sebastian Jazz Festival runs parallel to the whole history of modern jazz itself.

Chillidaleku
Located in the town of Hernani, Chillida-Leku is the realization of a long-cherished dream of the inspired artist Chillida: creating a space fit for his artwork where it could be permanently on display. This one-man museum is a faithful representation of the development of Eduardo Chillida’s sculpting career over a period of 50 years. It is in Chillda-leku where the work of this universal artist may be enjoyed in all its glory.

Guggenheim
Designed by the American architect Frank O. Gehry, the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum is located alongside the Nervion River next to the colossal La Salve Bridge, one of the main entrances into the city of Bilbao . The building has over 11,000 m2 of display space distributed among 19 galleries.

Urdaibai
On account of its size and degree of conservation, the Urdaibai sanctuary is not only the most important wetland in the Basque Country but one of its areas is of international interest since it is an important resting area and winter quarters for migratory birds. UNESCO granted the sanctuary the title of biosphere reserve in 1984. Its allure is complete with beaches such as Laga , Laida, Laidatxu, Sukarrieta and the islet of Txatxarramendi.

Gaztelugatxe
Belonging to the town of Bermeo, the St. John of Gaztelugatxe hermitage is located upon a rock jutting out into the Bay of Biscay, joined to the mainland by an old rustic bridge. To get there, you have to climb over 400 little steps up a stone walkway. The landscape from the hermitage is breathtaking. On the 24th of June and (feast day of St. John the Baptist) and the 29th of August (St. John the Beheaded) there are memorable and joyous festivals.

Playas

Zarautz
The Zarautz beach boasts of fine sand which is open to the sea along its over 2 km in length. It is an ever-changing beach where there are swings in the tide of up to 4 metres in depth and over a kilometre in length. It is a beach famous for world championship surfing competitions held off its waters.

Getaria
There are two beaches, one facing east while the other faces the west, each with different environments: the one facing the east is quiet, relaxed, just right for a good rest. The one facing the west is a bit rougher, sporty and it open to the sea and is just right for having fun doing water sports.

Itzurun Santiago
Under the shadow of the St. Elmo hermitage, St. Elmo being the patron saint for mariners, there are some spectacular vertical strata in the rocks on hand. This beach, which is a Blue Flag beach, offers a clear full view of the coast leading up to the province of Biscay as far as Cape Matxitxako. Its sands and waters are said to be healthy on account of its high-iodine content. The Santiago beach is sandy, quiet, and relaxing.

Mt. Pagoeta
The lower part of Mt. Pagoeta is accessed through the borough of Laurgain. There is the Iturraran Ecomuseum where the Botanic Garden Park with its countless species of trees, shrubs, and flowers may be found . On the other hand, you can take a quiet stroll, sit on the benches for a rest and feel the pulse of nature around you. There is also an admirable old ironworks nearby with windmills that powered the forge.

Mt. Ernio
Thousand Crosses Hill. Mt. Ernio (1,075 m.), located between the Urola and Oria Valleys is one of the fairest mountains in the whole province of Gipuzkoa. Views from it take in practically the whole of the province of GIpuzkoa. On its summit is the greatest collection of crosses anywhere in the Basque Country. This is an area very much beloved by all and around it there are rural festivals held around the foot of the mountain on Sundays in September.

Lastur
Lastur Valley is a paradise valley which is approximately 3 km long and half a km wide. Its geological formation is due to the erosion of karstic terrain which resulted in a proliferation of sinkholes, caves, and countless ravines.
One of the oldest native breeds of cattle in Europe, the “larrabehixak" can be found grazing along its meadows which are, moreover, used in bullfights in Lastur on holidays if you feel up to that sort of thing.

Loiola
Built along the house of birth of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the baroque-style Loiola Basilica is a grand religious complex with a circular floor plan, with a richly sculpted and decorated central nave topped by a churrigueresque dome which was built in the 17th century in honour of the most universal Basque of them all, St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuit order).

Ekain
Ekain Cave, known for its cave paintings dating back to the Magdalenian period belongs to the town of Deba but located just 1.5 km. from the town centre of Zestoa from the quickest access route is to be found. In the area around Ekain we can find several Magdalenian sites: the important Urtiaga and Ermitia sites, las well as the Aitzbeltz , Agarre, and Erralla sites.

Arantzazu
The greatest example of contemporary Basque architecture and one of the main spiritual bastions in the province of Gipuzkoa. In 1950 it was decided to build a new religious temple in the vanguardist mould. Work on it was done by such great artists as Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida, Nestor Basterretxea and the architects Sainz de Oiza and Laorga . On September 9, the Our Lady of Arantzazu festival is celebrated there.
